Goodbye February

It’s hard to believe February has come and gone. I want to catch you up on happenings here at the tent. We have been blessed with sunshine and warmer weather. The creek has gone from a frozen trickle to a rush of mountain runoff.

Trestle Creek

One amazing thing about living where I do is it can be sunny and 50s with the grass starting to green down in the meadows. While up above in the mountains it’s still winter. The snowpack is at 100% in the mountains. I’m hoping this means a slow melt off this spring. In turn fewer wildfires this summer. Last summer was the worst I can remember.

Cabinet Mountains Idaho

As the snow retreats at the tent I am finding plenty of limbs that need to be burned. Controlled burning now while it’s wet will mean less fuel for a wildfire this summer.

The nights are still dipping below freezing. This mean a nice fire in the wood stove. There is nothing better than the sound of the creek only feet from my deck paired with the crackle of the fire to put me to sleep at night.

Lake Pend Oreille

I have tried not to let a weekend go by without venturing high into the mountains on the Timbersled. This is a world that I only could get glimpses before now. I rode to the top of the mountain that looks down on my tent. The weather was a bluebird day. Plenty of sun and no wind. I dismounted my Timbersled and relaxed sitting in the deep snow. Overlooking Lake Pend Oreille and straight across the valley at Schweitzer Mountain Resort.

In other news. Big changes coming soon with my vehicle so stay tuned.

What’s in the box?

Stay safe. Stay warm. Stay tuned to Baldbigfoot.com
