I wanted to give a quick review of the Alu-Cab camper.

My thoughts so far are that it’s awesome.
First: Setup time. Two minutes tops. If needed in bad weather thirty seconds. You flip two latches on back and the shocks assist you in lifting rooftop tent portion of cabin. Climb inside and push bed up. (Also on shocks). Now you are dry and inside with a eight foot space on one end and six foot on the other.

Second: Convenience. Having everything neatly put away inside is incredible. Thanks to my buddy Jim. The cabinet setup fits my lifestyle perfect. On the drivers side. All my clothes are packed away in a four foot by eighteen inch cabinet. On the passenger side. A six and a half foot by twenty seven inch cabinet holds all my equipment. Grill, winch, tools, chair, recovery gear, other. My cooler sits in front of the drivers side cabinet. It has a drain setup on a valve. This way when ice melts it runs out under the truck.
Third: Mechanical. The dual battery setup is a perfect fit for my needs. One quick connect is attached to main battery. This way if I want to run anything out in front of truck I simply disconnect the quick connect and attach BBQ, winch, charger, or inverter. The line then runs back through the engine bay under the frame and enters Cabin through same hole that cooler drain runs through. After entering the cabin it connects to the second battery that sits next to cooler out of sight. From there the line runs through passenger side cabinet frame to the back of cabin. On this end is another quick connect. Now I can run the same things out the back of truck or inside cabin.

Lastly: Truck. The Alu-Cabin sits on a 2022 Toyota Tundra Off-Road Limited. The Tundra brand is known for its reliability. Although the 2022 has a six cylinder twin turbo that is new this year. We won’t know it’s longevity for a few years. It seems great so far and has 16,000 miles on it to date. Plenty of power. The four wheel drive system is impressive so far. It comes standard with rear lockers and a crawl mode that distributes power to the tires that are not slipping.

I am still waiting for the Firestone air bags to be released for the 2022. Once they are out I will add them to level truck before putting a three inch lift and 35 inch tires on it. Just enough to get across rivers and over obstacles that stand between me and adventures.
This weekend is the first trip to Glacier National Park in Montana with this setup. I will let you all know how it goes.
Stay Safe!
