The Tundra was packed and headed east along U.S. Highway 2. A map would not be needed for this trip. After leaving Sandpoint Idaho one drives 2,000 miles and turns right over the Mackinac Bridge.

The trip to Michigan would take me three days. I planned to drive for eleven hours, give or take, each day. I would find a place on water to stop for the night, pop up the Alu-Cab and settle in to do some writing or reading.

The first day brought me past Glacier National Park. I followed the Flathead River in Montana. Having stopped to swim and make lunch on Flathead Lake earlier, I watched the spectacular scenery slide by outside my window.

The first night would bring me to eastern Montana. The next day my truck ate up North Dakota, Minnesota, and landed me on Lake Superior in Wisconsin. To wake up and swim in Lake Superior as breakfast cooked on the Traeger grill was amazing. Day three brought me across the Upper Peninsula of Michigan from Lake Superior to Lake Michigan for another swim while lunch cooked. Then across the Mackinac Bridge into lower Michigan.

I retraced my route on the way back , after exploring the U.P. of Michigan. Pictured Rocks, Tahquamenon Falls, and Whitefish Point. I had not been to these places in over 30 years. It was well worth the side trip.

After eighteen days and five thousand miles I arrived back in Sandpoint, another adventure under my belt. The Tundra turned 60,000 miles as I pulled into town.
Amazing trip! Thanks for sharing the cool pics 🤩
