Wood fired hot tub

I was hoping to have this finished by now but life happens.

I wanted to check-in and update you on the latest project at the tent.

Here it is so far gang.

I pulled two 36 inch logs into place so I could extend deck for a wood fired hot tub / cold plunge.

I want to thank my buddy Justin for donating wood and screws for this project. YOU ROCK!

So i cut and winched logs in to place after digging trenches next to tent.

Next I cut smaller downed trees to ten foot lengths to be the cross beams. Then I decked this 6×10 foot deck.

After this it was time for hot tub. A 170 gallon horse trough. I drilled a 3/4 inch hole for drain valve and attached a standard hose bib. This will drain tub through the slate fire pit which holds copper coil for heating water.

The plan works like this:

A 3/4 copper 50 foot coil is placed inside a slate fire pit, which is elevated between the deck and creek running 10 feet away. After attaching coil to a horse trough, a fire will heat the water from the hot tub. The top pipe will push hot water in the top of hot tub as the bottom pipe sucks cooler water from the bottom of the tub.

This continuous circulation will heat water.

To fill hot tub I will use a pump that is run off an inverter from my trucks dual battery. Using a garden hose the tub fills in 15 minutes.

I can cold plunge or heat the water next. I will drain water back into creek through the fire pit. This will extinguish fire each time. Also this insures clean water always.

I will post a youtube video and another blog when finished.

Enjoy your summer and be safe!
